Our company, Network Sorcery, has been involved in software development since 1996, and we have been specializing in developing an automotive decoder for the past five years. We have developed a new technology for passively decoding the vehicle bus data on selected models of Infiniti, Nissan, GM, and have partial support for other vehicle makes. The OBD2 protocol is commonly used to extract performance data from automobiles but has significant limitations in terms of performance, safety concern... s, and the variety of data that can be reliably read. Our UCAN software package runs on off-the-shelf hardware to passively extract data from a vehicle in real time. Our decoding technology provides better performance, gives more detail, and up to fifty times the volume of data that OBD2 only systems can provide. OBD2 systems cannot decode things like door position, state of lighting, state of HVAC, and more. Our recommended hardware platform is a Raspberry Pi 3 with a PiCAN2 board attached.
