As its name suggests, the New York Career Institute is a vocational school, providing career training for growing fields. NYCI offers associate’s degrees and certificates leading to clerical jobs. Though it has undergone multiple name and... location changes since then, it remains committed to training the best legal assistants and stenographers in New York. Its standards are rigorous, with visible results: graduates of the Court Reporting program are often able to type 225 words per minute! NYCI’s schedule is organized in trimesters, which begin in late September, January, and May. If attended full-time, the Institute’s programs take anywhere between three to six trimesters to complete. Part-time classes are available on Monday through Thursday evenings, and occasionally on Saturday afternoons. As a for-profit school, NYCI does not offer scholarships. However, it is eligible for a number of government financial aid programs such as Pell Grants, the New York State Tuition Assistance Program, and the Federal Work-Study Program.More
