If you wish to remain at your high school while receiving career training that could lead to certification or a possible college scholarship, Okaloosa Applied Technology Center has the program for you. Located in Fort Walton, Florida, Okaloosa Applied Technology Center has career training academics for high school students and adults alike. CHOICE is the division of Okaloosa that is devoted to training those still in high school. Through the CHOICE program, students are transported from their ... home high school to attend three periods at Okaloosa Tech. Courses at Okaloosa Tech are taken for elective credit towards graduation. However, students may also earn certification in such areas as medical or nurse assisting, digital arts and gaming, carpentry, welding, cosmetology or culinary arts. In addition, high school students may be eligible to receive the Bright Futures Gold Seal Scholarship to attend college or university. Adult students may also receive career training and/or certification at Okaloosa Tech. Those who are age 22 or older must pay a fee for tuition. Financial aid, however, can be sought in the form of federal, local or institutional grants.
