It also offers a directory of over 14000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Petfinder.com was named one of TIME Magazine’s 50 Best Web Sites of 2008 and was awarded a People's Voice Webby Award in 2009 for its mobile interface,Petfinder.com Mobile. In 2011, Petfinder.com's free iPhone application was nominated and a finalist for the Webby Awards as well. Petfinder was launched in January 1996 and is based in the United States.
