PictureTel Corporation is a developer and manufacturer of a full range of visual and audio collaboration, and video streaming solutions for needs that range from the desktop to the boardroom. Starting off with one of the first real-time systems to implement motion compensation and transform coding in July 1986, the company has since grown to offer several systems, including relatively inexpensive models that provide audio/visual surveillance, more complex models that enable personal comput... er (PC) users to view each other on their computer screens, and complex multipoint systems that allow people in several locations to communicate at once. PictureTel Corporation was founded by Brian L. Hinman, Jeffrey G. Bernstein, and Dr. David Staelin on August 13, 1984 in Massachusettes, USA. The company was later acquired by Polycom in October 2001.
