PINE MANOR COLLEGE

A small women’s college in a scenic New England setting, Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, offers traditional and progressive academics with some co-ed offerings. Situated just outside of Boston, Pine Manor College offers beautiful, rural scenery as well as quick access to the city. At the undergraduate level, Pine Manor College is an all-women’s school. Traditional academic programs consist of bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Communications, Education, English, Psycholog... y and Visual Arts. Pine Manor also has associate’s degree programs in several fields including Health Sciences and Theatre. Pine Manor’s approach to undergraduate studies is what sets it apart. Courses culminate in projects and portfolios and include community service, internships and community-based research activities. Another unique offering is Pine Manor’s MFA program in Creative Writing. With concentrations in Fiction, Poetry, Nonfiction and Children’s Literature, the MFA is co-educational. It is also low residency so that those who have full-time jobs or live elsewhere may still attend. Since its student body and classes are small, Pine Manor’s students have a real sense of community. The school has clubs and groups related to the arts, a student radio station and newspaper, and cultural, community service and academic associations. Pine Manor’s admissions process is unusually individualized. In addition to grades and SAT scores, Pine Manor takes additional factors into consideration such as participation in community service, special talents and extracurricular activities.
