We provide clients with access to a quality insurance license and the skills to design a highly efficient insurance programme for their particular needs. As we have adapted to changing client needs, we have broadened and improved this offering over the years as illustrated by some of the key events in our history below. 1995 - RMB Structured Insurance Limited began life as Quantum Insurance Company offering boutique short-term insurance solutions. It was then jointly owned by Hollandia Reinsurance Company Limited (now Hannover Re) and RMB Holdings Limited. 2000 - Quantum Insurance changed its name to RMB Structured Insurance Limited to reflect its proud heritage. 2000 - RMB Holdings Limited acquired Hannover Re’s shareholding in RMB SI Investments. In the same year the RMBSI Group established a composite insurance and reinsurance protected cell company in Mauritius called RMB Structured Insurance Limited PCC. This enabled the group to offer cross-border capabilities. 2002 - RMB Structured Life Limited was established to complement and enhance the Group’s product offering. In the same year, RMB Financial Services Limited, a composite reinsurance company domiciled in Ireland, was acquired from FirstRand Bank. This further enhanced the Group’s cross-border and offshore offering. 2005 - New Seasons Financial Services Proprietary Limited acquired a 15% shareholding in RMB-SI Investments in a BEE deal. It proudly remains the Group’s BBBEE partner. 2006 - The Group entered the underwriting management agency arena. 2011 - RMB Holdings Limited split its banking and insurance interests into two separately listed companies. Rand Merchant Insurance Holdings Limited was formed as a holding company with a diversified portfolio of South Africa’s insurance brands, including the RMBSI Group. 2012 - The Group acquired a strategic equity stake in Truffle Capital Proprietary Limited. This marked the start of the Group making significant selective strategic investments to broaden its product offering. Today, the RMBSI Group is a strong financial services company with an extremely talented management team which has its finger on the pulse of the business. The RMBSI Group also has a very experienced and knowledgeable board of directors, all of whom are intrinsically involved in the business at both a strategic level as well as taking an interest in the day-to-day running of the business.More
