ROXBOROUGH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING
At Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, instructors blend nursing theory and academics with a hands-on clinical component to provide their students with a thorough understanding of both the practice of nursing and the history behind it. Graduates will be prepared to begin exciting and rewarding careers as entry-level nurses. The school offers a 21-month program. Students will attend classes five days a week, as well as clinicals, which generally run from 7:00 am to 3:00 twice a week.... The school’s admissions requirements consider each applicant on an individual basis; however, certain criteria apply as well. A college GPA of at least 2.5 is preferred, and the applicant must supply two satisfactory recommendations. Students must have Child Abuse and State and Federal Criminal Record Clearance, as well as Drug Testing Clearance. To apply, students should submit an application and fee, as well as high school or GED and college transcripts. A pre-nursing test may also be required, or an interview requested. Check with the school for additional admissions requirements. For those struggling to meet tuition costs, financial aid is available. Students can complete a FAFSA to check their eligibility for Pell grants and federal loan programs. The school also participates in the Pennsylvania State Grant Program, and during the admissions interview students will be supplied with information on applying for scholarships. Student life is never dull. Roxborough is a small community with a friendly atmosphere, and with downtown Philadelphia nearby there are also plenty of shops, entertainment and dining options. The school offers a recreational lounge and a social room for student activities and socialization.
