SAINT VLADIMIR'S ORTHODOX THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yonkers, New York, prepares orthodox Christians for a life in the ministry. St. Vladimir’s student life encompasses a broad spectrum of activities, including community service and church-related activities. St. Vladimir’s academics consist of two master’s degrees: one in Divinity and one in Theology. Both degree programs prepare students to work in the Orthodox Christian ministry, though graduates are also qualified to work in other relig... ious capacities, as well. St. Vladimir’s also has a Seminary Wives program. This program prepares the wives of seminary students to transition into the ministerial life. The seminary’s unique blend of college life activities includes opportunities to meet with local church youth, a Karate club, music groups and community service activities. Admissions to St. Vladimir’s are competitive. Applicants to both programs are encouraged to consult their pastor about their decision to apply. Once they have done that, applicants to the Theology program must submit an admissions application, recommendation letters, transcripts and a personal essay. They must also submit a proposal for their master’s thesis. The Divinity program requires two essays, as well. Applicants will need to get their essays approved and blessed by the authority in their church. Those who plan to take at least six units may submit a FAFSA for federal loan consideration. St. Vladimir’s also provides institutional scholarships and financial assistance through the archdiocese.More
