Samra University of Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles, California, is one of the oldest schools of Chinese Medicine in the United States. Samra’s degree program in Oriental Medicine teaches ancient and established eastern medical techniques like Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. Samra’s academics also integrate western medical techniques and approaches to biomedicine. Since the first language of many Samra students is Korean, Samra University delivers all of its classes in both Korean and English. Samra students earn their degree in a shortened amount of time, too. While many acupuncture degree programs take more than four years to complete, Samra’s program takes a little more than three years of continuous, year-round study to finish. Admissions requirements include a minimum of 90 quarter or 60 semester units, including pre-requisite courses in health and the sciences. Applicants show evidence of this academic background by submitting transcripts from all schools attended. Applicants must also submit recommendation letters as evidence of their commitment, diligence and high ethical standards. Foreign applicants who wish to study in English must score at least 500 on the TOEFL exam. Samra University offers scholarships to eligible students to help pay tuition costs.More
