SAN FRANCISCO ART INSTITUTE

Located in one of the most visually stunning cities, San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) offers a visual arts curriculum that blends experimental art practice and Art Theory and History. Bachelor’s, master’s and MFA programs are the main degrees offered at SFAI. Additional programs include a low-residency master’s program and a one-year certificate program. In addition to the intense theoretical and practical training and education, students are also given access to some of the most r... ecognized art and artists. Several SFAI galleries, each focusing on a different theme, cultural perspective or artistic movement, exhibit work by some of the most current visual arts practitioners. SFAI also conducts residencies whereby renowned artists work, teach, exhibit and lecture on campus, giving students the opportunity to gain different perspectives from some of the art-world’s best. Graduate students at SFAI exhibit their work as well at a gallery specifically devoted to their work. SFAI’s locale is another compelling feature. Not only is San Francisco a visually and creatively inspiring city, it is also a city with a flourishing artistic culture, as seen by the numerous art galleries and museums throughout the city. Admission to SFAI’s BFA and MFA programs is based primarily on one’s portfolio while admission to the BA program is primarily based on one’s academic performance and artistic commitment. Financial aid is available to qualifying students through loans, grants and other sources.
