Scala is an object-functional programming language for general software applications. It could be used for large mission-critical systems as many companies, including [Twitter](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/twitter), [LinkedIn](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/linkedin), or [Intel](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/intel). It won the ScriptBowl contest at the JavaOne Conference in 2012. Scala is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
