SEATTLE INSTITUTE OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE

Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine provides academics in acupuncture and oriental medicine, offering degrees in both. Within these programs students will learn about acupuncture, tui na, herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and Chinese medical language. As class sizes are small, admissions to SIOM are competitive. Each program has a set of prerequisites that all incoming students must complete, which includes a personal interview. Those accepted to the program must pay a nonrefund... able deposit to hold their place within two weeks of receiving their admissions status. When applying, individuals must include a recent, passport-sized picture, all official transcripts, an essay outlining the reasons for choosing to pursue a career in Oriental Medicine, an educational finance plan, a nonrefundable application fee, and a Prospective Student Release of Information Form. At this school, college life continues outside of the classroom as graduate students work with practitioners and supervisors to see patients at SIOM’s teaching clinic and herbal dispensary. As clinical work begins almost immediately, students receive hands-on training in a real-world environment. Students are expected to enroll full time. The total cost of tuition fees will be known at the time of enrollment. Financial aid is available through the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program and the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program to those who qualify.More
