SITTING BULL COLLEGE

The Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates, North Dakota, offers academic and technical programs designed to serve and promote the Lakota/Dakota culture, language and heritage. Instruction in the Lakota/Dakota culture permeates all areas of study, allowing students to better grasp their heritage by learning its language and history. Student life is dedicated to cultivating Native American identity. Students may join a number of clubs, including the American Indian Business Leaders, Ikce Oyate Cultu... re Club, American Indian Higher Education Consortium and more. Leadership opportunities are also available through the school’s Student Government Organization. Academics include a variety of undergraduate degrees in fields like Business Administration, Environmental Science, Elementary/Special Education, General Studies and many more. Admissions are open, allowing any student who has graduated from an accredited high school or possesses a GED the opportunity to attend. Although devoted to the Lakota/Dakota tradition, the school welcomes students of all backgrounds. Certain programs in Criminal Justice, Practical Nursing, Early Childhood Education and Teacher Education require criminal history background checks. Students who complete a FAFSA application may be eligible to receive financial aid through the form of grants, scholarships, loans and work study programs. To be considered for the North Dakota State Student Incentive Grant students must apply by March 15 of the prior academic year.More
