Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious liberal arts colleges for women. All of Smith’s programs of study are of the highest caliber. In fact, Smith alumni include some of America’s most respected authors, politicians and academics. Northampton is a small city that boasts many cultural and creative activities, including jazz concerts and poetry readings. On campus, students may attend academic lectures, participate in creative pursuits and attend traditional events. Admissions at Smith are highly competitive. Applicants should have undertaken a rigorous high school curriculum. In addition to transcripts, applicants must submit recommendation letters, an essay and a list of extracurricular activities. An interview may also be required. Smith does not require standardized test scores. Financial aid includes need-based federal grants and loans and Smith scholarships.
