SOUTH AFRICAN MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL
South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) was established in 1969 with the mission of improving the health of the country's population through research, development, and technology transfer. The organization's research projects focus on tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular and non-communicable diseases, gender and health, as well as alcohol and other drug abuse. According to the SAMRC, which has a strategic objective to strengthen South Africa's health systems - in line with the Department of Health - the main causes of death are constantly identified.
