SPUR
SPUR is a civic planning organization that brings together people from across the political spectrum to develop solutions to the major problems faced by cities. It is a member-supported nonprofit organization. Members receive its acclaimed monthly magazine, The Urbanist, and free or reduced admission to more than 200 events a year. SPUR’s work spans 8 program areas: community planning, disaster planning, economic development, good government, housing, regional planning, sustainable development, and transportation. SPUR is based in San Francisco, United States with offices in San Jose and Oakland.

SPUR's history dates back to 1910, when a group of city leaders came together to improve the quality of housing after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.
