One of St. John’s Hospital’s educational branches, the St. John’s Hospital School of Clinical Laboratory Science provides training in one of the most essential health care careers. Lab scientists are of crucial importance to doctors, helping to diagnose and monitor patients. Because it’s a specialized school, academics at the School of Clinical Lab Science are somewhat unique. The program, which lasts for 44 weeks, is basically equivalent to senior year in a bachelor’s degree program.... As a result, admissions requirements are also unusual. To apply, you must be a junior at any of the school’s partner colleges. There are about a dozen of these, including Eastern Illinois University, Bradley University and Illinois State University. If you do not attend any of the affiliated colleges, you can still apply to the School of Clinical Laboratory Science. However, you must hold a bachelor’s degree. Financial aid also depends on your enrollment status. If it’s affiliated with St. John’s Hospital, your college will reimburse you for tuition.
