Each year more than $11.4 billion in waste and damages can be attributed to fast food packaging*. Packaging containers contaminated with fats, oils and greases (FOG) represent a substantial portion of this waste. The fact, however, is that most fast food packaging containers are inherently recyclable—it’s only after they’ve been in contact with FOG materials that they’re rendered ineligible for municipal recycling programs.
