THE BOSTON CONSERVATORY

With a history of excellence spanning nearly 150 years, the Boston Conservatory has established itself as one of the United States’ premier training centers for the performing arts. Boston Conservatory features academics in music, theater and dance. The dance division offers a single bachelor’s degree program, while the theater and music divisions offer both undergraduate and graduate programs. Most of the music division’s academics are based on performance, but studies in pedagogy, musi... c education and conducting are also available. The theater division offers a BFA and master’s degree in Musical Theatre. It is one of the only conservatories in the country to feature a musical theatre master’s program. Because admissions are based largely on talent, all Boston Conservatory applicants must audition. Admissions are quite competitive, which is also indicative of the Boston Conservatory’s curriculum. For example, students in the Musical Theater program participate in a jury during their second year, which determines whether they will be cut from the program. State and federal programs are the main source of financial aid at the Boston Conservatory.
