THE HUGO AWARDS

The Hugo Awards is a set of awards given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year. The awards are run by and voted on by fans. Voting for the awards is open to all members of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). Voters can nominate up to five entries in each category and the five entries that get the most nominations in each category go forward to the final ballot. In the final ballot voting is preferential and the voters can rank the can... didates in order of their preference. The Hugo Awards are given to individual works, people, and serial publications. Best novel, best short story, best dramatic presentation (long form), best editor (short form), best fanzine, best semiprozine, best professional artist, and best fancast are some of the award titles offered by The Hugo Awards. The Hugo Awards were first awarded in 1953, and have been awarded every year since 1955 at the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon).
