THE INSTITUTE FOR LEGISLATIVE ACTION

The Institute for Legislative Action is the legal arm of the National Rifle Association in the United States. It is committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess, and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It has worked to pass pro-gun reform legislation at the state level. These efforts include enacting laws that recognize the right of honest citizens to carry firearms for self-protection;... preemption bills to prevent attacks on gun owner rights by local anti-gun politicians; and fighting for legislations to prevent the bankrupting of America’s firearms industry through lawsuits. When a restrictive gun control legislation is proposed at the local, state, or federal level, NRA members and supporters are alerted and respond with individual letters, faxes, emails ,and calls to their elected representatives to make their views known. The Institute is also involved in educating the public about the facts concerning the many facets of firearms ownership in America. Through the distribution of millions of printed fact sheets, brochures, and articles annually and the posting of information and news on its website, the Institute provides facts about responsible firearms ownership, the Second Amendment , and other topics. The Institute for Legislative Action was founded in 1975 and is based in Fairfax, Virginia. It operates additional offices in Washington, District of Columbia, and Sacramento, California.More
