The union represents about 3,000 employees at New York area-based media organizations and their respective bureaus around the nation. The Newspaper Guild has more than 34,000 members in the United States, Canada, and in Puerto Rico. The union was launched in 1934 by Heywood Broun and others. It is based in New York, N.Y.
