THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA'S COLLEGE AT WISE
As UVa’s only branch campus, the University of Virginia’s College at Wise carries UVa’s venerable educational tradition to residents of western Virginia. The college provides a smaller liberal arts college experience than the expansive University of Virginia, while maintaining a similar commitment to excellence. UVa-Wise’s academics include more than 30 majors, including Virginia’s only Software Engineering program. The school emphasizes the importance of student engagement, maintaini... ng an average class size under 15 and a student-to-faculty ratio of about 13:1. The college has two early admissions deadlines for students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. These early admissions programs are nonbinding, and they will ensure you consideration for certain scholarships and earlier registration. The application deadline for Early Admission I is December 1, and Early Admissions II has an application deadline of March 15. Need-based financial aid is available in the form of federal grants, and state scholarships and grants. Institutional scholarships are also available, and federal student loans can provide further assistance with tuition.
