The Victor Dahdaleh Foundation is involved in multiple initiatives and progra... mmes around the world focused on core interests in three areas: โ€ข health and wellness; โ€ข access to education for underprivileged people; โ€ข promoting closer ties between Canada and the United Kingdom. Within health and wellness, the Foundation supports and funds crucial and high-level academic and scientific research projects including neuroscience research at McGill University in Montreal, cardiovascular research at Royal Brompton Hospital in London, and most recently. The Foundation has funded major initiatives such as the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research which was opened at York University in Toronto to provide leadership and innovation in improving global health. It also made the largest ever donation to the British Lung Foundation of ยฃ5 million to fund vital research into mesothelioma, matching UK government funding. In education the Victor Dahdaleh Foundation has sponsored projects from large scale support to the London School of Economics to small schools in Ethiopia. A long-time and significant donor to the LSE, Victor is an Honorary Fellow and governor since 1995 and actively promotes the schoolโ€™s interests around the world. In Ethiopia the Foundation is a donor to the Northwood Africa Educational Trust, a charity set up to establish and finance St Georgeโ€™s School in the Northwest of the country. The school provides education to vulnerable orphans as risk of a lack of any educational options. Since 2007 the Foundation has funded an endowment for the award in perpetuity of 32 annual scholarships at McGill University in Montreal. The scholarships are targeted at outstanding international full-time undergraduates from low-income countries. As a Canadian in London, Victor Dahdaleh is keen to support social, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Between 2004 and 2009 he was the President of the Canada UK Chamber of Commerce and he continues to play an active role. The Foundation is also the principal sponsor of the Canada House Gallery in Canada House, London, providing a focal point for Canadian art and artists in the UK and has been a long term supporter of the Maple Leaf Trust.
