It... s device is for the non-operative treatment of adolescent scoliosis, a severe curvature of the spine in kids. Approximately 10,000 US kids per year require brace treatment. The current treatment is a custom-made hard plastic brace. It keeps the spine immobile by compressing the ribs. It has poor patient compliance and outcomes at a high patient cost. Its novel device will improve patient comfort, compliance, and outcomes at a lower total patient cost.
