The Catholic University of the North, with 60 years of life, is a Public Law Institution, inserted in the group of advanced universities of the National System of Higher Education is based on the values of Christian Humanism and its mission is the constant search for truth to contribute to the development of the person, society and cultural heritage of the community through teaching, research and extension. This Institution, born at the initiative of a group of priests of the Society of Jesus, and its benefactor Mrs. Berta González de Astorga, formally began her duties on May 31, 1956, being the eighth university that was founded in Chile and the third Catholic vocation.
