The Mariana University is the result of a proposal made within the framework of the II International Congress of Franciscan alumni held in the city of San Juan de Pasto, from January 10 to 14, 1964, when delegations from different regions of the country and from the world where the Community of Franciscan Sisters has its apostolate, several proposals were presented, they were put to the consideration and approval of the Honorable Assembly.
