Pharmaceutical licenses typically specify the form of the packaging and so it is expensive for the manufacturers to make and package pills in bulk form for pharmacies to repackage them into dosage specific packs. During 2003, pharmacists in the UK alone deblistered and repackaged approximately 70 million packs of pills ' mostly by hand. The number of patients requiring these patient specific packs is increasing each year at about 10-15%.
