XMPP STANDARDS FOUNDATION
The XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) is an independent, nonprofit standards development organization which defines open protocols for presence, instant messaging, and real-time communication and collaboration on top of the IETF’s Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). The foundation provides information and infrastructure to the worldwide community on Jabber and XMPP developers, service providers, and end users. It publishes extensions to the core protocols in the form of XMPP Ext... ension Protocols (XEPs). The foundation offers free individual memberships based on technical merit. New members apply for membership and are elected by the existing members if they are active participants in the XMPP developer community through authoring or commenting on XMPP protocols, implementing XMPP-based software, offering XMPP-based services, and more. It also offers various active discussion venues for Jabber and XMPP developers, system administrators, and end users. The XMPP Standards Foundation receives sponsors from several organizations, including Coversant, Erlang Solutions, KOLON BENIT, US Secure Hosting Center, Genesys | Angel, ProcessOne, and Voxeo. Professional XMPP Programming with JavaScript and jQuery , Programming Jabber, and Instant Messaging in Java are some of the books published by the foundation. The XMPP Standards Foundation was founded in 2001.
