Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It provides direction and technical guidance to plan, develop, manage, and evaluate healthcare financing programs and policies. The agency administers the Medicare and Medicaid program; determine quality standards in long-term care facilities; and monitors the certification of processes. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services was founded in 1977 and is headquartered in Woodlawn, Maryland.
