Since 1882, the Cleveland Institute of Art has established a reputation as one of the United Statesโ€™ most highly regarded art schools. With excellent facilities and a student-to-faculty ratio under 10:1, CIA provides individualized instruction in a nurturing creative environment. The Cleveland Institute of Art offers academics in a variety of subjects, including: *Craft and Material Culture *Design *Integrated Media *Visual Arts and Technologies About 20 majors are available altogether. In ... addition to more traditional concentrations like Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Design, CIA offers unusual majors like Game Design and Biomedical Art. All of these academic programs lead to a bachelor of fine arts degree. The curriculum is based on creative development and studio work, but CIAโ€™s academics are grounded in the liberal arts. Admissions requirements for CIA include an application and fee, official transcripts and test scores, a personal statement and a letter of recommendation. As a conservatory, the school also requires a portfolio, which can be submitted in CD or DVD format. The Cleveland Institute of Art offers several financial aid opportunities. In addition to federal grants and loans, various institutional scholarships are available. Some of these scholarships, such as the portfolio awards, are given automatically to outstanding incoming freshmen.
