The Keywin Speed Pedal was invented in 1983. The company pioneered the "twist-out release" principle that has now been adopted by virtually all pedal manufacturers. Speed Pedal came to be in a shocking and dramatic way. A rider caught in his toe clips fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The Speed Pedal seeds were sown within twelve hours. In conjunction with Look, the pedal changed the world to clipless pedal systems in the 1980s.
