PharMerica Corporation is an institutional pharmacy services company, which services healthcare facilities and provides pharmacy management services to long-term care facilities, senior living communities, and IDD agencies, among others. As of December 31, 2021, the Company operated over 170 institutional pharmacies in 48 states. In March 2019 global investment firm KKR and BrightSpring Health Services, one of the largest home and community-based health services providers, announced that KKR had closed on an acquisition of BrightSpring. As part of this transaction, BrightSpring merged with PharMerica Corporation to become a leading provider of home and community-based health and pharmacy services for high-need and medically complex populations.
