Recherches Techniques Dentaires(RTD) developed and commercialized the fiber- reinforced composite post and is the world-wide leader in this field. RTD is certified ISO 9001 / EN 13485, employs engineers, technicians and chemists, and is protected by a number process and design patents. The original product line consisted of several plastic endodontic posts for casting techniques. In 1986, RTD began marketing posts utilizing short random carbon fibers for temporary restorations. This inspired the development of the FIRST high-performance fiber post. Collaboration between Dr. Marc Reynaud and Dr. Bernard Duret culminated in the 1988 introduction of the original carbon fiber post-COMPOSIPOST; with long equally pre-tensed carbon fibers.
