SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY

A private school in Dallas, Texas, Southern Methodist University offers more than 100 majors and 75 minors as well as numerous student life activities. Southern Methodist's list of majors and minors provides a tremendous range of choices. Students may major in everything from Chemistry to Marketing to Musical Composition to World Languages and Literature. Arts, cultural and other activities also abound on campus. Materials required for admissions consideration include an application with a fee, transcripts, two recommendations, a resume outlining extracurricular activities and SAT or ACT scores. Each student is looked at individually and everything from academic performance to talents and accomplishments are taken into consideration. Those applying to performing arts programs like music and theatre will also need to audition. Financial aid may come from a variety of sources, including academic and talent scholarships awarded by the school and need-based aid awards such as grants, loans and work-study. Those applying for need-based aid will need to fill out a FAFSA to be considered. Students who still require financial assistance after they are given their financial aid award may also apply for outside scholarships with the help of Southern Methodist's financial aid office.More
