THREE RINGS

Three Rings was an internet games development company based in San Francisco. Puzzle Pirates (casual action puzzle MMOARRPG) was their first and most successful title, followed by Bang! Howdy (Steampunk tactical turn-based MMO), Whirled (user-created Flash / web virtual world) and Spiral Knights (action adventure MMO). Three Rings also made a Doctor Who game with the BBC, a How to Train your Dragon game with Dreamworks and various Facebook games and other experiments. Three Rings was acquired by SEGA of Japan in 2011 and operated as a studio within SEGA until early 2016.
