URISA
URISA is a non-profit association providing professional education and training for geospatial challenges, issues, and essential resources. It also promotes the effective and ethical use of spatial information and technology for the understanding and management of urban and regional systems. The organization provides the means for local governments to gauge their progress in achieving GIS operational maturity against a variety of standards and measures. URISA goal is to protect, promote, and grow the GIS profession and support GIS professionals at all stages of their careers with essential training and resources. URISA was founded in 1966 and is headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, USA.
