General Services Administration is a government institution that manages and supports the basic functioning of the federal agencies. It provides workplaces by constructing, managing, and preserving government buildings, and by leasing and managing commercial real estate. GSA's business lines include the federal acquisition service and the public buildings service. Other divisions include the Office of Government-wide Policy and various staff offices, including the Office of Small Business Utilization, the Office of Civil Rights, and the Office of Citizen Services and Communications. The institution was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Washington, District Of Columbia.
